General Patton was the finest tactician and one of the most aggressive Generals in the American Army in WW2 his inate sense of a situation and indomitable spirit and courage in large measure contributed to the victory over Nazi Germany. Patton correctly sensed a breakdown in the German High command structure that for 5 days presented an opportunity to have the ability to shorten the war by perhaps 8 months and saved millions of lives. This occurred in August 1944 and only Patton recognized it and it was lost.
